When asked what you do/what your business is about (the question that makes many businesspeople I have met look like startled bunnies in headlights!) make sure you say more than literally what you do. Try and build a picture in people’s minds as you will stick there for longer.
For example, rather than me saying simply: “I run a marketing company that specialises in helping small businesses get more business”, I say: “Think of me as a sherpa, helping you get from base camp where you are now, to the top of the mountain where you want to be, by guiding you past the peaks and troughs along the way.”
Which version creates more of a picture to stick in your mind?
