Communications Strategy for IOSH

Organisation: Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH)

Type: The world’s biggest professional health and safety body

Service: Communications consultancy

Brief: To devise the strategy to communicate the availability of a competency framework, a first for IOSH, to multiple stakeholder groups and encourage them to adopt it as a professional development tool.

Activity: To position the IOSH Cpmpetency Framework as the ultimate competency framework for the occupational safety and health community globally started off with a stakeholder mapping exercise. This identified six primary groups (with members split into 9 sub-groups). Communication priorities for each group were identified to determine their individual communication needs, and objectives were alligned with IOSH organisational objectives. Tactics appropriate for each stakeholder group were determined and an implementation schedule introduced to deliver a sustained campaign from pre-launch through to the end of year 1. Measure of success for each element of the campaign were in place and a suite of content created.

Legacy: The communications strategy and plan was delivered for the in-house team to implement.
