Today has been a great day – I heard that I am now a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). I have been in public relations / marketing roles throughout my 25 year career and a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) since 2005, but I had never got round to applying to join the CIM.
I applied through the Senior Management Entry route, the lovely Sarah Orchard, of Orchard Marketing Associates, verified my career, and amongst my supporting documentation was a copy of my business degree certificate, my CV and a selection of case studies outlining recent marketing achievements. Through this entry route, it is experience that counts and due to the range of skills I have and the type of work I do and have done for clients, I received an email confirming that my application had been successful and I am now a full member of the CIM, the leading professional body for marketers, and can add MCIM after my name along with MCIPR.
What does the designation MCIM mean for my clients?
Well, as a member of the CIPR and one of their Accredited PR Practitioners, I am already committed to a programme of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to keep my skills and knowledge up-to-date and reflect best practice. Being a member of the CIM as well now widens my access to quality training which can only be a positive benefit to my clients.
Watch out current (and future) clients, I will be so up-to-date I may end up overtaking myself!
